They say the subway is New York’s great equalizer β€” a place where people from every corner of the city briefly share the same space before scattering again.

In Transit is an exploration of movement, transience, and identity within the fleeting spaces between destinations. As a traveling nurse anesthetist and artist living temporarily in the city, I’m drawn to the subway’s suspended moments β€” a space where I am both observer and participant, present and passing.

This project looks at how the act of seeing shapes experience: how vantage point shifts the story, how time stretches and collapses between stops, how framing and edges reveal or conceal, and how stillness briefly emerges inside constant motion. Beneath the city’s pulse, I look for the small intersections where strangers share a moment before disappearing back into their separate directions.
